British 1740 Cloth Mitre Cap Officers

This Mitre cap represents the luxury afforded by officers of the 18th Century.

Carefully embroidered by hand in real silver and gold bullion threads and embelished were required with naturally dyed silk threads..

Made with the best wool and velvet fabrics, and mounted with silk and linen on the correct internal framework.

The front panel is stiffened with a strawboard insert. The rear red patch with cane strips covered with silver  or gold lace tape. Fully lined inside with linen and finished with a silk tuft on the top.


Each  regiment had there  own distinctive pattern,  different from the standard soldiers design.
