1768 Pattern Grenadier Fur Cap Officers

Introduced  in 1768,  this cap  replaced the earlier embroidered pattern cap .

Made from black  bear  or goat hide over a linen carcas with an internal tin front. Red patch to rear . Leather sweatband and silk head liner. 
Gilt cords and bullion fringetassels.

The front plate  is the the 1768 pattern plate,  with heraldic helmet and  Hanoverian mottoe. Silvered copper and black laquer
